63 members enjoyed this talk about school life in the wartime air-raid shelters (tunnels) located beneath the grounds of Maidstone Girls' Grammar School in Kent. These tunnels were used as subterranean classrooms during World War II air raids, allowing lessons to continue interrupted. 

Mary Smith is former headteacher, who has written a book titled A Schoolgirl's War, which details the history of the tunnels and school life during the war.
