"THE LONG WAY TO A SMALL ANGRY PLANET" by BECKY CHAMBERS (AUG) - The Group felt that this was one that should be tried as we could not predict easily whether or not it would be well received. Overall ‘Marmite’.

"PLEASE MISTER POSTMAN" by ALAN JOHNSON (JUL) - The group found this was an engaging and thought provoking read.

"IRON LAKE" by WILLIAM KENT KREUGER (JUN) - Most members thought the book was engaging and would recommend it.

"DEATH AT THE WHITE HART" by CHRIS CHIBNALL (MAY) - Most of the book group seemed to enjoy the story and the way it was written, finding it a relatively easy read with sufficient red herrings to keep you going

"438 DAYS" by JONATHON FRANKLIN (APRIL) - Not many members enjoyed this book and wouldn't recommend it. 

"PRECIPICE" by ROBERT HARRIS (MARCH) - Overall the group agreed that this is an incredible story and they would recommend it as a good read. 

"THE PIANO TUNER" by DANIEL MASON (FEBRUARY) - The group found this to be a thought provoking read but felt the ending weas weak.

"THE RIFT" by RACHEL LYNCH (JANUARY) - The group enjoyed the strong woman as the main character (in a mostly male dominated world).  A very exciting book and an easy read.

"NEITHER NOWT NOR SUMMAT - IN SEARCH OF THE MEANING OF YORKSHIRE" by IAN McMILLAN (DECEMBER) - Overall, most felt that it was an easy and fairly interesting read but would not necessarily recommend it to others.

"SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS" by DAVID GUTERSON (NOVEMBER) - On the whole, the group would recommend this book. As a group we could agree with the following review by The Independent on Sunday. 'If Truman Capote, Arthur Miller , Harper Lee and John Grisham all washed up on a desert island.... they might well come up with something like this.' 

"THE MISEDUCATION OF EVIE EPWORTH" by MATSON TAYLOR (OCTOBER) - Overall, the Group would recommend this as a Good Read. It was a light, funny read and for those who remember 1962 and/or grew up in Yorkshire it struck a chord and brought back a lot of memories.

"REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES" by SHELBY VAN PELT (SEPTEMBER) - Most in the group loved this book, finding it quirky and absorbing.  However, a couple of members found the book difficult to get into and too fantastical and would not recommend it.

"THE ROAD TO NAB END" by WILLIAM WOODRUFF (AUGUST) - The group felt that this was an interesting read about the decline of the cotton industry.

"THE SURVIVORS" by KATE FURNIVALL (JULY) - The group gave this book mixed reviews.

"A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL" by JOHN PRESTON (JUNE) - Recommended as interesting and informative.

"STILL LIFE" by LOUISE PENNY (MAY) - A 'Marmite Book' - good read if you like a thoughtful, more considered approach to police investigations.

"OPERATION MINCEMEAT' by BEN MACINTYRE (APRIL) - Recommended as a good read.

"THE WHALE AT THE END OF THE WORLD" by JOHN IRONMONGER (MARCH) - The group enjoyed this book.

"THREE CUPS OF TEA" by GREG MORTENSON & DAVID OLIVER RELIN (FEBRUARY) - Recommended with reservation - a fascinating ‘true life’ story which turns out to be not so true. 

"HEAD OF STATE" by ANDREW MARR (JANUARY) - Overall, the group found this book disappointing.

'THE STORIED LIFE OF AJ FIKRY' by GABRIELLE ZEVIN (DECEMBER) - The book was enjoyed by the group on the whole although not enough for anyone to want to rush out and read another of this author's books. 

"THE VANISHING OF MARGARET SMALL" by NEIL ALEXANDER (NOVEMBER) - Overall, the Group would recommend this as a very good read.
