Cuddy is a nickname given to St. Cuthbert, the Anglo-Saxon monk, bishop, hermit and saint who lived during the 7th century. He is associated with the island of Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and Durham Cathedral. This novel straddles historical eras and introduces us to brewers and masons, archer and academics, monks and labourers whose visionary voices and stories echo through their ancestors and down the ages.   It is written in four parts in a highly experimental way, mixing poetry, prayer, play-script, journal entries and prose.
