John Young, resident Heritage specialist and railway enthusiast at The Station, has marked 60 years since he arrived by train at Richmond railway station, stepping onto the platform for the first time as a young soldier,on Monday 3rd January 1966.

That arrival at The Station was the start of a lifelong fascination with the railways and the beginning of a very personal connection to this amazing place.

Six decades on, John is still helping to preserve and share Richmond’s rich railway and military heritage, ensuring the stories of those who lived, worked, and travelled here by train continue to be shared with the thousands of visitors who come to The Station every year.
