"Wheelchair Adventures" by Bret Crossley

The members looking to attend this month’s talk might have been forgiven for thinking the subject matter might be a little depressing. At the age of 32 years Bret Crossley lost the use of his legs after a devastating motorcycle accident at the Isle of Man TT race.  However, from the exciting pre-accident footage of his many successes as a motorcycle racer to the post-accident ones showing him undertaking things as diverse as mono-skiing, road racing, body boarding and representing his country at the Triathlon, Bret entertained us with his sense of humour and showed that you do not have to be defined by what life throws at you. Whilst he touched on his dark moments of despair immediately after the accident, he now helps others in a similar position and his parting words were that he believes his life is so much richer because of his situation. Every person left the hall feeling inspired by everything they had heard and feeling that anything is possible if you really set your mind to it.
